A Randstad Workmonitor 2026 India Survey found that 58% of Indians are now looking for second jobs for extra income amid rising costs. With prices shooting through the roof, be it LPG or petrol, the need to earn some extra cash makes sense. But not everyone can work two jobs, so how to earn that extra something? Referrals can work wonders in this scenario. You don’t need to apply for jobs, update your CV, and interview for a role. You just refer an app you are already using to a friend or a follower and earn cash. We have shortlisted some of the best refer-and-earn apps available in India as of 2026. Let’s have a look at them, so you can start earning straightaway.

1. Google Pay: Best for Volume

google pay

Google Pay’s referral program is the most generous and the easiest to explain to anyone, because almost everyone in your contact list already uses GPay.

  • You earn: Rs. 101 the moment your friend makes their first payment through Google Pay, then up to Rs. 25 more for each of the next four weeks if they keep transacting, which can go up to Rs. 201 total per successful referral.
  • They earn: Rs. 21 on that first payment, plus small bonus-quest cashback for a month after.
  • How it works: Open Google Pay, scroll down and select “Referrals,” and click “Invite New Friends.” You can share the unique referral code with your friend or share the link with your contacts. Whatever works. Your friend has 28 days to sign up to GPay and make an eligible payment (sending money, paying a bill, or a UPI merchant transaction), or the referral doesn’t count.
  • The cap: Up to 100 successful referrals or Rs. 9,000 total per financial year, whichever hits first. Not available in Tamil Nadu due to state prize-scheme rules.

2. Paytm: Best for Predictable Payouts

paytm

Paytm’s numbers don’t fluctuate the way some competitors’ do, which makes it easier to calculate your earnings. It is also a well-used payment app that’s used by many.

  • You earn: A flat Rs. 100 per successful referral.
  • They earn: A guaranteed (if variable) cashback reward on their first UPI transfer of Rs. 1 or more.
  • How it works: Tap the “Refer & Earn” banner on the Paytm homepage, share via WhatsApp or your contact list, and your friend needs to complete a UPI transfer within 7 days of signing up.
  • The cap: 20 new referrals a month, 100 a year. Payouts land within 7 days.

3. PhonePe: Best for a Big Flat Payout (For Now)

phonepe

PhonePe doesn’t run a permanent, publicly listed referral page the way Google Pay and Paytm do, but it has a live in-app campaign which we confirmed through the app. And the program is active until October 2026. It currently pays out more per referral, flat, than either of them.

  • You earn: Rs. 200 cashback, delivered as a scratch card, the moment your referred friend completes their first UPI payment on PhonePe.
  • They earn: We could not find it in the specified current terms. Check the “Refer & Earn” page inside your own app before you promise a friend a number.
  • How it works: Share your referral link. Your friend needs to install PhonePe through it, sign up within 1 hour of clicking the link, and complete their first UPI payment within 5 days of registering on the app. Cashback can only be claimed once per user, phone number, and device, and only new users qualify. Anyone who registered on PhonePe more than 5 years ago is excluded.
  • The catch: This campaign is confirmed live only from 15th October 2025 to 5th October 2026, and PhonePe limits it to “a select set of users only”, so it may not appear in every account, and there’s no guarantee it continues (or pays the same amount) once that window closes. Confirm your own eligibility on the in-app “Refer & Earn” page first.

4. Flattrade: Best One-Time Cash Reward

flattrade

If your friend circle includes anyone who’s talked about opening a demat account, Flattrade pays more per referral than any UPI app on this list, with zero referral cap.

  • You earn: Rs. 200 flat, credited straight to your Flattrade trading account.
  • They earn: A free demat account with zero brokerage on equity delivery trades.
  • How it works: Share your unique referral link or client code. Your friend needs to open their account (roughly a 5-minute process) through the Flattrade app.
  • The catch: The Rs. 200 lands in your trading account, not your bank. It’s real money, but you’ll need to use it inside Flattrade rather than withdraw it directly — worth knowing before you set expectations with a friend.

5. Zerodha: Best for Long-Term, Passive Earning

zerodha

This one won’t pay out fast, but it’s the only program here that keeps paying you for as long as your referred friend keeps trading.

  • You earn: 300 reward points per account opened (redeemable for AMC waivers or paid tools like Tickertape and smallcase; 900 points cover a full year of AMC), plus 10% of the brokerage fees your friend generates, indefinitely. Brokerage-sharing was paused in August 2024 following an NSE circular and resumed on 1 June 2026, with payouts starting 1 August 2026.
  • How it works: Generate your link at zerodha.com/refer or through the Kite app under “Invite friends.” Your referred friend has 60 days to open an account after registering.
  • The catch: You need at least 3 successful referrals in the trailing 12 months to unlock withdrawals, and the minimum payout is Rs. 100.

If you’ve got even a handful of friends who trade actively, this compounds in a way none of the flat-fee apps do.

6. CRED: Best If Your Friends Already Have Credit Cards

cred

CRED doesn’t publish a single flat number the way Paytm does, but multiple independent trackers suggest that it has a tiered rewards structure that grows the more you refer.

  • You earn: Roughly Rs. 200 at the first tier, scaling up toward Rs. 500 to Rs. 1,000 as you climb higher referral levels.
  • They earn: Up to Rs. 250 on a qualifying bill payment.
  • How it works: Share your CRED referral link. Your friend needs to sign up and complete a bill payment within 30 days.
  • The catch: CRED itself is gated. Members generally need a credit score above roughly 750 to join, so this only works if the people you’re referring already carry a card and pay it responsibly.

7. Upstox: A Backup, Not a First Choice

upstox

Upstox has a real, active referral page, but it’s the least transparent of the bunch about what you’ll actually get.

  • You earn: Vouchers “redeemable across multiple brands.” Upstox doesn’t state a rupee value on its own site. Third-party trackers report anywhere from Rs. 300 to Rs. 1,200 depending on the live campaign.
  • How it works: Share your referral link; your friend must open their account through the Upstox mobile app specifically (not the website) for the referral to count, and your reward activates 7 days after they finish onboarding.
  • The catch: Because the reward is a voucher of unstated value rather than cash, treat any number you see quoted online as an estimate. Do not trust third-party sites that claim you can earn Rs 1000 per referral. Only go with what the Upstox app and program state.

What About Navi, Groww, and Meesho?

You’ll see these three mentioned constantly in “refer and earn app” blogs, but the truth is not all of them work. That’s why we have left them off the main list.

  • Navi runs a referral program, per its Instagram post from about a year ago. But we did not find any recent data on their referral program. Due to a lack of recent info, we did not add it to the main list. According to their IG post, when you recommend a friend to the Navi app, you get 500 Navi Coins, and your friend earns 250 Navi Coins. 100 Navi Coins = Rs. 10, so for every successful referral, you get Rs. 50. But the catch is that the referee must make a minimum payment of Rs. 200 via the Navi App.
  • Groww’s own blog confirms its referral program is invite-only for select users, and that referred users haven’t been eligible for rewards since a regulatory change in May. The referrer side may still get something, but it’s not a program you can count on. Unless you are invited to participate in the program, you can’t benefit from it.
  • Meesho doesn’t have a public refer-and-earn page. You can’t find one on their website as of now. What you’ll find instead is Meesho’s affiliate program. Creators can join it and earn up to 5 lacs a month by promoting Meesho products on social media.

So, Navi, Groww, and Meesho may help you earn, but the process is more complicated than a simple refer and earn.

Which Refer and Earn Apps Should You Actually Prioritize?

If you’re starting from zero, here’s the order that makes sense for someone with the usual/standard social network:

  1. Google Pay first. The highest annual ceiling (Rs. 9,000), the lowest bar for your friend to clear, and everyone already has UPI.
  2. Paytm second, mainly because it’s easy to run alongside Google Pay. Friends who already have Google Pay might still be new to Paytm. So, you can refer them and earn the extra cash.
  3. PhonePe third, if your app shows you the offer. A flat Rs. 200 beats Paytm’s Rs. 100 and GPay’s 101 (after first payment). It has the highest one-time payout out of the 3 payment apps on the list. But confirm your own eligibility on the “Refer & Earn” page first, since PhonePe restricts this campaign to select users and it’s only confirmed to run through October 2026.
  4. Flattrade if anyone in your circle has mentioned wanting to start investing. It’s Rs. 200 with no cap beats every UPI app per referral.
  5. Zerodha is best to play the long game. Even a few referrals here can turn into small recurring income for years, which none of the flat-payout apps offer.
  6. Skip chasing Navi or Meesho referral numbers you see floating around. They’re not reliable enough. Check the apps, and if they have official programs, go with it. Or else skip them!

Referral cashback is a nice way to top off your income. But it can’t be a full-on way to earn. You can treat it as a side hustle that pays for your streaming subscription or your coffee. FAQs:

Which refer and earn app pays the most in India right now?

PhonePe, Flattrade, and CRED pay the most per referral. PhonePe pays Rs. 200 in a scratch card for every successful referral, whereas Flattrade and CRED also carry similar benefits.

Do I need KYC to start earning referral rewards?

For UPI apps like Google Pay and Paytm, you need a linked bank account, which typically requires basic KYC. For broking apps like Zerodha, Flattrade, and Upstox, both you and your referred friend need a PAN card and completed KYC to open the trading account that triggers the reward.

Can I refer to the same person on multiple apps?

Yes, referring the same friend to Google Pay, Paytm, and a broking app like Flattrade are all separate programs with separate rewards. Just make sure they’re genuinely new to each platform, since most programs only pay out for first-time users.

Is there a refer and earn app with no referral limit?

Flattrade and Zerodha don’t publish a fixed referral cap. Google Pay and Paytm both cap earnings, but at a high enough ceiling (Rs. 9,000 and 100 referrals/ year) that most people won’t hit it. PhonePe caps its campaign at Rs. 9,999/year with a Rs. 2,000 monthly limit.

Why doesn’t PhonePe have a permanent referral page like Google Pay or Paytm?

PhonePe’s Rs. 200 referral cashback runs as a live promotional campaign, confirmed through the app’s own terms to last from October 2025 to October 2026, capped at Rs. 2,000 a month and Rs. 9,999 a year. It’s also restricted to “a select set of users,” so it won’t show up for everyone.
